Avon in The Present ~~ By Holly Crohe

Avon has become a very common household product, generally for women. What started out as perfume and cosmetics has grown to so much more. You can buy clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, decorations, even household items. Avon sells itself. Most people have heard of Avon or know someone who uses their products. With the advances in technology, you can now go on line and order Avon from your sales lady with out ever having to see her. You can order your items online at www.avon.com and your products will come directly to your house with your receipt and all. You can also pay your bill on line, or if you prefer, mail your representative a check. Much more convenience for the products we love.

I wasnt aware that Avon had household products available. I know that Avon was always door to door, and that was it's stereotype. Technology has brought the sales person into a customers house with the use of the Internet. What will be next?

i remember their used to be a lot of Avon people but know you don’t see them as much. their are good and the bad things about not having as many Avon people. its good because it is easier and faster most of the time. the bad could be many people lost or don’t sell as much because of the internet. i think they work on commission. i didn’t know that they sold other products to but I knew it was going to happen soon.

I love the idea of shopping for Avon online, call it secret obsession that was passed down from my mother. She is a sales rep these days and I read her cataloges religiously but I miss some things that I'd like to own. I was on facebook the other day and one of my freinds is a rep as well and I clicked on the site threw her page, I automatically go to the clearance and I found the cutest ring for $3.99. I instantly told my mom what it looked like and she found it. 4 bucks and a week later I owned it. Its crazy how easy online shopping makes life and how happy a cheap ring will make a giel like me.

The idea of being able to sell it online and to be able to sell more then what they started with can be a good idea, but it can also lead to a cheapening of the company. The original idea behind Avon was the door to door selling makeup where you got to know you representative. nowadays you just go online pick what you want and don't really have to deal with anybody. It seems much colder this way. With the fact that they sell so many things ranging from eyeliner to bath robes how can a person really tell you what they think about the product. Also because there is so much no one keeps anything on hand so you have to wait to get it. I think the personal touch of Mary Kay has a warmer feeling to it.
With Mary Kay their consultants help you find what is best for you. Also they have their skin care line that helps fight the aging process, which the consultant also shows you how to use it. Mary Kay also made sure to use every piece of technology available to her and has their own site, but unlike Avon it connects to their personal beauty consultant. One of the biggest advantages of Mary Kay is that most consultants keep inventory and even take it to their skin care classes, you get you product the night you order it in most cases and don't have to wait for it to come in.
