Permanent makeup~Stacey

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, and eyelids. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost them as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia, chemotherapy, or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and white spots in the skin such as in vitiligo. It is also used to restore or enhance the breast's areola, such as after breast surgery.
Most commonly called permanent cosmetics, other names include dermapigmentation, micropigmentation, and cosmetic tattooing[1], the latter being most appropriate since permanent makeup is tattooing. In the United States and other countries, the inks used in permanent makeup and the pigments in these inks are subject to FDA or similar agency regulation as cosmetics and color additives.

When I first heard about this, I though why would someone want to do that to themselves? After reading the article you posted though, I can see that there are some benefits to having a technique like this around.

Although the images from the woman pictured are not helping the cause. She looks like she just walked into a dark room and someone jumped out and surprised her.

The technology involved with makeup has evolved over the years. People had to put makeup on by hand whenever they wanted it on in the past. Now they can have it tattooed to their face. Women always want to look their best and I guess tattooing makeup onto their faces will save them a lot of time. I don’t know why anyone would put permanent makeup on their face because eventually they may want to change their look a little. With permanent makeup, they are stuck with tattoos on their faces. I think some people in society will like permanent makeup while others will not.

These techniques offer alternatives to traditional makeup, and solutions for people with scarring from medical treatment, surgery, accidents, etc. Although many people in our culture will not be interested in permanent makeup, it is good that it is available to those who need, or want, it. This is what is so good about our free society, people have choices that they would not have available in cultures and societies that are not free. The idea of tattooing the face seems like it would be very painful, and risky as to the outcome, but I'm glad it is an option.

I find this topic ver fascinating. All my girlfriends talk about this trend, such as getting their eyes lined permanently with black ink. They feel that its a hassel to apply the makeup everyday and won't leave thier house with out it. I think its risky, I have a tattoo myself and that was painful. Imagine just for a second how painful it would be to feel that continuous needle running along the fragile skin that covers eye. I think that make up technology is very cool becuase the colors that are avialble but its also fun to buy and use them. This permanent idea makes us, already lazy americans, even lazier.
